Facebook Divorce” is a term referring to evidence of marital misconduct obtained from Facebook being used for divorce. A divorce is a very big legal process in which the divorcing partner must prove to a court of law that the other partner is behaving irresponsibly in some way and a separation is necessary. Two of the most common grounds for divorce are adultery and unreasonable behavior. Married individuals are increasingly discovering via social media sites that their partners are involved in extra-marital relationships and flirting. One example of evidence being used in divorce is when one partner discovers private messages on the other partner’s account discussing recent sexual relations or extra-marital flirting. These messages can then be documented and used in court to prove that the partner was not being faithful to the marriage, and therefore is grounds to separate. There are several ideas as to why social media sites are being seen more and more in divorce. One theory is that it makes it very easy for a bored husband or wife to reconnect with a previous lover. Another theory is that it is causing people to begin relationships on a superficial basis which then fall apart later. While these statements may be carry some value of truth, it is a wrong interpretation to blame Facebook for the individuals who cheat on their spouses or begin superficial relationships, for it is simply a tool; it is up the user to be emotionally stable enough to begin and maintain a successful relationship. Facebook Cause DivorceThe Web and social media are making available a greater level of transparency across all aspects of life. In Egypt recently, it was seen as a great contributor to changing the government. We see here that it is revealing non-truths which are lively in people’s personal relationships. Now that non-truths are being exposed more quickly, every individual is being pressed to live more honestly and more truthfully. Facebook is now helping reveal the state of emotional development in our society which is clearly quite lacking. This is the reality that is being brought to light in recent days, with Facebook being one of the great contributors to social transparency.
